Bradley Play Area, Nelson

The Bradley Residents Steering Group supported by Pendle Council wanted to provide a welcoming play space on a rough corner of land (former builder’s yard) adjacent to an existing ball court and important gateway. Newground had assisted in the past with concept master planning.

For the play space, Newground now worked closely with the local school and Lancashire County Council, supported by Lancashire Environmental Fund, to produce an attractive well used creative space right in the heart of the community and a real asset to the neighbourhood. The boundary treatment includes the retention of an attractive willow tree, feature walling, detailed sett edgings, a sensory hedgerow and simple grey railings.

This enhancement promoted other environmental improvements in the area which Newground also assisted with – planning preparation, submission and approval for the Bodies in Motion Food Growing Project next door.
