Inteb Ltd Corporate Team Building

The challenge

Inteb had several specific aims for their team building day. They were to:

  • Involve all their team members in a physical outdoor task
  • Make a positive difference to their local community
  • Cover good practice in team building theory
  • Reward their employees for their past years hard work

There were twenty employees involved and it was important to include everyone in all aspects of the day.

Newground’s approach and solution

In order to ensure Inteb’s objectives were met it was important to maximise the time they had on the day. Newground used an extensive list of contacts to find a nature reserve with an indoor training room within twenty minutes drive of Inteb’s office.

Our education and training co-ordinator planned a day that combined a unique experience of cooking lunch on an open fire at Brockholes Nature reserve, with practical conservation tasks of tree felling, tree root removal, and fence post making. The tasks were important because employees were clearing and defining a new Forest School site. Inteb knew that because of the work they had done, children from their local community would be able to spend time in a safe and natural outdoor environment, engaging with nature and developing a passion for the natural world.

The day of camp fire cooking and conservation tasks was sandwiched with before and after indoor sessions on effective team building and communication to complete the planning of the day.

How we made a difference

Newground’s training and consultancy services were combined with thirty years of experience in local community project work in order to help achieve Inteb’s objectives for the day. In house specialist skills in outdoor cooking created a truly memorable experience for lunch. Combined together, this made the day rewarding for everyone involved.

Julia Westcott of Inteb said,

“Newground helped us to plan our recent teambuilding day. The whole event went really well and was thoroughly enjoyed by all our staff.  We loved being outside and feeling like we were doing some good for a local beauty spot -  and we got to spend some good time with each other too. We are all aching and hobbling today, but actually feeling just a little bit invincible after the experience!  Eating under the canopy in the woods was brilliant and a highlight of the day for all. It was great - many thanks for your help pulling it together”
