Wyre Estuary Country Park Summer Fete.

People living near a Thorton Cleveleys beauty spot have been celebrating their local green space at a fete organised by Newground.

Approximately 200 people visited the event at Wyre Estuary Country Park, held in summer 2017.  They had the opportunity to learn traditional skills such as wood turning, pyrography and whistle making, alongside contemporary art and craft activities.

The event was sponsored by local company AGC, who have their European Headquarters nearby.  As well as traditional crafts the fete also featured entertainment from magician Andrew Dean and acoustic guitarist Craig Almond.

Dan McDermott, Education & Training Coordinator for Newground, who planned the event said

“We’ve created an environmental and green themed summer Fete.  It has the traditions of British summer time mixed with activities which focus on the natural world and making things by hand.”

“Our event shows how green spaces have been used over the years, and how important they are now.  It’s great to give families an opportunity they may not have tried before and a chance to enjoy themselves as a family outdoors.”
