What are the system requirements for the Legislation Update Service?

What setup do I need to use the Legislation Update Service?

Using the LUS system is pretty straightforward in terms of hardware and software requirements. You’ll find any relatively up-to-date and internet-ready PC or Mac will be able to access all the features of the product without any trouble.

The product and its database are accessed via the website www.legislationupdateservice.co.uk so an internet connection is essential and if you’d like to export law summaries or a spreadsheet version of your register programmes such as Microsoft Excel and Adobe PDF will be required. Aside from that there’s no dedicated software to download and no memory/storage requirements.

Internet browsers

In terms of internet browsers it’s recommended that you use the most recent versions available to you as newer websites are designed with graphics and features that old browsers can sometimes struggle with. Unless you’re searching the internet using a very old browser you shouldn’t find any issues with the LUS system, it works fine with Internet Explorer 8, 9, 10 and 11, Firefox, Chrome and Safari. If during your trial you do come across any buttons that won’t click or pages that won’t display properly just let us know and we’ll get it sorted.

The product itself uses quite basic functionality and although it hasn’t yet been specifically optimised for use on tablets and mobile devices, on the ones we’ve tested the system seems to work fine.

The website and its database are hosted on a secure and managed server here in the UK with backups and fail-safes to ensure that your data is protected and, should the anything happen, easily recoverable.

As a web-based product the security of the LUS system is our priority but maintaining accessibility whilst adding new features to keep LUS ahead of the game is really important to us. Feedback on the user experience is always welcomed and if you have any questions about the system and how it works don’t hesitate to get in touch.

We welcome relevant, respectful comments.
