Working with local residents, community groups, school children and volunteers, the project will improve access in the woodland, create ponds/wetland areas, community gardening/picnic spaces and undertake management of the woodland and improve biodiversity through understorey planting.

The project also includes community planting/growing activities along with artwork, interpretation and signage created through community design workshops.

Peter Jordan, Communities Director for Newground, said: “As a company, improving the environment and natural habitat for public benefit is at the core of our business.

“This project will create a wonderful space for the local community to  use, improve, shape and learn from over the years.

“It’ll help the community in so many ways and we’re very happy to support it.”
