The annual Christmas Walk, which was held on 29 December 2014, was a great success with thirty eight hardy souls joining a walk with Active Spaces, Burnley and Rossendale. Two people, who live in Essex, also joined the group, showcasing our local area as a beautiful place to live and the locals being very friendly.
Walkers met at Salterforth Inn, Barnoldswick with two routes on offer. One easy, level route along the canal bank spotting wildlife, fauna and flora, along with admiring the barges tied along the Leeds and Liverpool canal. A fantastic time was had by all; lunches were consumed along with plenty of liquid festive cheer at the Salterforth Inn after the walks were completed.
The Active Spaces sessions enable those who live on their own or have health issues a chance to engage in a friendly and safe group. It gives people a bit of fresh air, some low level exercise, a chat and a chance to share problems. (Not forgetting our local communities, enabling people to have some good hearted fun!)
