Members of Newground’s WorkSmart team attended the Hyndburn Jobs Fair at Accrington Town Hall on Thursday 6th July 2018.
Now in its fifth year, the event saw more than 50 training and employment providers offering opportunities to the several hundred people that attended. The event was open to people of any age who are currently looking for employment, thinking about apprenticeships or looking for career advice.
The Newground WorkSmart team proudly set out their stall to promote their employment programmes that aim to help local people into work. These include their Revision Programme, as well as the More Positive Together programme that they operate on behalf of Active Lancashire in the East Lancashire region. Both of these programmes support local people to get back into sustainable employment with good quality local businesses.
The team were kept extremely busy throughout the event with about 30 people signing up to express an interest in joining one of their employment programmes, with many more taking information away for themselves, relatives or friends. As Newground is part of the Together Housing Group , the team were also promoting current apprenticeship opportunities across the Group, which also sparked lots of interest.
The Newground WorkSmart team also had the opportunity to network with local businesses, and let them all know about the free recruitment service that the team can offer. The team were approached by two national organisations who were interested in using Newground WorkSmart’s recruitment service for their local vacancies.
The Newground WorkSmart team also attended the Rossendale Jobs Fair on Tuesday 10th July.
