North West Green Hero Awards 2014

The North West's Green Heroes were honoured at a special awards ceremony in Lancashire last night.

The event celebrated companies across the North West who have made a significant contribution to making their business and their local environment greener.

This is the 18th year that we’ve run our environmental business awards and, as usual, the event attracted a huge amount of interest.  Representatives from our sponsor companies AGC Chemicals Europe Ltd, Neales Waste Management and Sustainable Water Environment Lancashire (SWEL) judged the event.

Preston-based company Skinlix won the coveted Environmental champion award but businesses from across the North West were given their chance to shine as 12 prizes were handed out on the night.

Mick Smith, Newground’s Managing Director, said: “As a social enterprise, we have a core social and environmental purpose and it’s great to celebrate the successes of local companies who share our philosophy.

As usual, the nominations were full of exciting and innovative new ways of reducing environmental impact and improving communities.
