ReUse Together has been shortlisted for a prestigious award for its efforts to be environmentally friendly.
The ReUse centre in Blackburn, which sells pre-owned and new items such as furniture and white goods, has been shortlisted in the waste reduction initiative – public sector/third sector category at the National Recycling Awards 2018.
ReUse is supported by the Newground CIC, part of the Together Housing Group. As part of Newground’s environmental commitment, the ReUse Centre recycles 100% of its waste, either on site or with a third party. This ensures that 100’s of tons of waste is diverted from landfill each year.
Sara Knagg, ReUse Coordinator said; “ReUse has saved over 500 tonnes of waste going to landfill thanks to our innovative and partnership approach. To be recognised for this achievement at a national level is a huge compliment and a reflection of the hard work and dedication of the team. We are up against national organisations so to be finalist is an accomplishment in itself.”
The winners of the National Recycling Awards 2018 will be revealed on 28 June at London Hilton, Park Lane where the industry elite will come together for a night of recognition and celebration of the sector’s achievements.
