Safeguarding week in Calderdale

Article by Lucy Spalding 21 June 2018

Safeguarding is everyone’s business.

Safeguarding is about promoting the rights and welfare of all people but also protecting the most vulnerable children, young people and adults from harm. Each and every one of us has a duty to safeguard, protect and promote the welfare of others.

To support this, the community across Calderdale is running 'Calderdale Safeguarding Week', now in its fourth year and is a packed programme of events and activities aimed at raising awareness about abuse and safeguarding issues.

In addition to events for professionals working with children and adults at risk, there will also be a programme of events and activities that anyone can attend, emphasising one of the key themes of the week, ‘Safeguarding is everyone’s business.

Events will be based around this and encouraging people to ‘speak out about the unspeakable’, with sessions being held throughout the week at venues across Calderdale.
