The school were relocating their Early Years section to the rear of their building and so needed a design and build for the integration of a new outdoor space. The design was to cater for approx 60 children aged 3-7 years and allow for creative learning and play. The site was sloping and exposed  so part of our brief was to form accessible spaces which could  be sheltered and safe with a variety of sensory experiences as suggested by the teachers.

We worked closely with the school and the Diocese of Salford  from April 2016, to create a series of flat permeable zones, enclosed by natural bounders, logs, sleepers and raised beds. We created a performance stage with canopies, a large sand area, water play, soft grass, a bug wall with sensory path, planted areas with long grasses and pergola frames. These spaces have been designed to link in with potential additional phases further up the hillside in later years.
