Natural Play

The natural world is full of resources for children to use for play and learning.  A simple thing such as a stick can turn into so many different things with a child’s imagination; it can be a walking stick, a person, a boat, which in turn can be the start of a story or an adventure. By using natural materials for play and engaging children’s imagination opportunities become limitless.

Challenge your group to problem solve and experiment, give them the opportunity to interpret their own use of sticks, stones, mud, flowers, logs and twigs.   You will always be surprised by the ideas they have and how easy it is to link it back to your curriculum.

Newground can be booked for sessions in natural play and staff training in philosophies and activity ideas.
