Train & Reward Your Teams
The Green Hero Education Awards
The ‘Green Hero Education Awards’ are Lancashire’s only awards dedicated to the green issues faced by Lancashire Schools. Applications are now open for 2018, where the awards will be an integral part of the Lancashire Science Festival for the second year running.
We offer the following training opportunities:
Forest School: Newground are pleased to offer level 2 and level 3 Forest School practitioner qualifications from Summer 2016 onwards. Forest School is a growing movement and an excellent way to help your groups spend regular time outside. Our training and support will give your staff the confidence and qualification to take their groups out into your school grounds or local green space regularly.
Bee Keeping: Our Permaculture Site Offshoots in Towneley Park in Burnley has been home to several beehives for many years and we think it’s really important to spread the good word of beekeeping. Our native bees are in real danger and we need more beekeepers nationally and locally. We can show you how to look after bees, produce your own honey and go through everything you will need.
Traditional Countryside Management: The Bunker is our outdoor learning venue in Waterfoot, Rossendale and is an ideal place to gain qualifications in traditional countryside management. We offer a variety of courses in subjects from hedge laying to dry stone walling. Contact us to find out what is coming up.
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
If your business is looking to get involved in its local community we can help by providing valued services to local schools and community groups on your behalf.
Events:Drawing on our varied experience and plentiful contacts within the environmental and outdoor industry we are able to provide bespoke events for your staff, their families and your local community. If you would like to cater for 10 guest or 200 we will provide an innovative and entertaining day for them.
Sponsoring our Green Hero Education Awards: This is a great way to support your local school community.
Workshops: These are a great way to spread a positive message about your company in your local community. Chose from our diverse list of workshop topics (page 7/13) and we can then provide these workshops on your behalf. Raise awareness levels about important environmental issues and spread the word on the good work your company is doing.
Supporting School Groups: You could support a school group in important issues of fairtrade, food miles, climate change or flood resilience. An ancient proverb states “it takes a village to raise a child” so what better way to raise your company’s profile than by helping educate children in your local community about important issues in the world’s global community.
Reward, develop and entertain your staff with a meaningful and engaging team building event. You can take part in traditional tasks such as tree coppicing or dry stone walling. Learning new skills is a key part of these practical tasks, whilst at the same time learning new things about your team. Our outdoor learning venues The Bunker in Rossendale or Offshoots in Burnley are perfect venues for small groups to work together and accomplish something they can be proud of. We are well suited to work with professional or student groups.
Example activities to choose from include: tree coppicing, green woodwork, pyrography, dry stone walling, shelter building, outdoor cooking, walks, cycling, problem solving, fencing and hedging.
If you need a different location for your team building event we have links with several great sites across the North West and can host your event at an ideal location near to your organisation.
