Amelia Dew

Landscape Programme Manager

I graduated from Leeds Polytechnic in 1976 with a Diploma in Landscape Architecture and worked briefly at BDP and Derek Lovejoy in Manchester, then for Brian Clouston in Halifax.

After a break to have children I formed a partnership jewellery company and developed that successfully for 5 years. I went back to landscape to work freelance and also taught Horticulture and Garden Design at Nelson & Colne College where I gained several City & Guilds Teaching Certificates.

I joined Groundwork fulltime as a Landscape Architect in 2000, gained my Chartership in 2002 and have been with Newground since its formation, working on a wide programme of design work.

What I do at Newground

I manage a dedicated and supportive team of 3 other landscape architects, working with many varied clients throughout the north on an amazing variety of schemes. These vary between reclamation sites, country parks, play areas and housing, cycle/bridleways, to community gardens, urban gateways, feasibility studies, PFIs, school developments and art installations.

I work closely with the Contracts Team manager developing and delivering a wide range of creative design and build projects.

In my spare time

Outside work I like family stuff and having my grandchildren to stay. I love cooking for friends, gardening, walking and sailing on calm seas.
