Reachout Rides to the future
Launched in February 2017, Reachout South Kirkby delivers young people and community work one evening a week in the local community. The team holds a junior and senior drop in where local people can come and chat with the support workers and talk about the issues that they’re currently facing. Reachout also offers advice on drugs and alcohol and how to deal with problems concerning these issues.
In South Kirby there is a major problem concerning motorbike crime & road safety, which has resulted in a number of deaths in recent years. The road safety and motorbike safety project aims to help young people in the community to understand safety around owning a motorbike, whilst providing a vehicle to help tackle drug and alcohol issues and driving under the influence.
Reachout has also linked with a number of local bike maintenance companies to provide workshops around taking care of your bike. The motorbike safety project starts Easter 2018 and runs until August 2018, with help from the funding Reachout received from the Police Crime Commissioner Unit.
We’ll catch up with team again after the project has finished and the outcomes.
