Reachout INGS has been nominated!
Reach Out INGS has been nominated for the ‘Engaging with the Young Award’ as part of the Hull Neighbourhood Network Awards 2018. The award aims to recognise and commend projects engaging with young people to bring about positive changes for them and the areas that they live and play.
Reach Out INGS (Part of Newground a wholly owned community interest company with charitable status by Together Housing Group) is a team of youth and community workers that offer a range of opportunities to engage young people from across the INGS estate in Hull. The team have a vast range of skills and experiences and have worked very hard across the area to engage young people from a wide range of backgrounds.
Mary Parkinson, Youth and Communities Senior Project Officer commented, “The team has worked incredibly hard across the community, engaging young people, including some of the hardest to reach, in a wide range of projects that benefit the local community. Examples of regular activity include litter picks, consultation exercises and engaging young people in volunteering and peer education.”
“Our team has developed very good relationships with the parents and families of the young people across the INGS area, and as a result, parents are comfortable engaging with workers to discuss any pertinent issues relating to their children,” continues Mary. “This two way relationship has helped to address a number of issues that have affected young people and their families in this area.”
The winner of the award will be announced at The Neighbourhood Network Awards ceremony, being held on Wednesday 24th October 2018, in Kingswood, at 7pm. Good luck everyone!
